This month’s free file is Simple User Counter by dtbaker.
The main features of this user counter script are: it doesn’t require a database to run, it allows you to record multiple user types (eg: Guests & Members), and you can display this information on any page (not just limited to .PHP pages). In it’s most basic usage, this script allows you to display how many people are viewing your website at any one time. You can style this any way you like. You can also place this anywhere, on any page. The javascript mode allows you to use this on .HTML pages as well.
Setup is easy! Just upload a single PHP script to your website and away you go.
